The Professor rose and I followed as he led the way through a side door into an adjoining room. It looked a lot like a doctor’s surgery. There was an examination bed, an array of medical instruments, and a piece of equipment I’d come across when I was having my children, a reclining seat with stirrups. Professor Tremayne pointed to it, and asked me to sit in it and put my feet in the straps. As I did so, he pulled up a small stool and seated himself before me.
